The prestigious Arts & Business NI Awards celebrate creative partnership projects between arts organisations and businesses and the amazing things they achieve when their talents are combined. Golden Thread Gallery is delighted to be shortlisted with our partner Translink for the Creative Community Engagement Award! The award recognises an arts and business partnership which uses the power of creativity to engage with local communities and achieve a positive impact.

Thanks to Arts & Business NI, GTG has been working with Translink around the redevelopment of York Street Train Station, currently under construction. The new station is set to transform the current facilities on offer, and our partnership is working to make sure the art on display in the new station celebrates the heritage and vibrancy of the local area.

GTG has hosted a series of varied creative workshops and sessions with local community groups from across the York Street area focusing on the theme of ‘Journeylines’, feeding their ideas and input directly into the artworks for the new station. As well as the new community-inspired artworks, the station will also feature a new vibrant public artwork by Belfast sculptor Kevin Killen. It’s been fascinating to work together with the communities and celebrate the pride they have in their neighbourhoods.

Congratulations to all the other brilliant nominees in this category, we’re very proud to be part of such an impressive group. The winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony in January 2024, wish us luck!
