Applications are now open for the Golden Thread Gallery MFA Mentoring & Exhibition Award 2023, in association with University of Ulster School of Art. The award is open to a University of Ulster School of Art Graduate based on their MFA work and show. The winner of the award will receive mentoring and professional support over the next 12 months from GTG Director Peter Richards and Deputy Director Sarah McAvera, building to a solo exhibition in the Golden Thread Gallery Project Space in late Spring 2023.
The recipient of our inaugural award in 2021, Drydan Wilson, is currently exhibiting his solo show ‘Another Distortion‘ in the Gallery Project Space.
Award Details
A mentoring support programme to begin in August 2022 (comprising 6 sessions with GTG Director Peter Richards and GTG Deputy Director Sarah McAvera, to include studio visits and the development of a career plan), running through to Spring 2023. Mentoring then culminates in a solo exhibition in the Golden Thread Gallery Project Space in late Spring 2023. The Golden Thread also offer a £500 artist fee for the exhibition, plus technical support and marketing.
Application Process
Please submit the application in a single PDF document containing:
- A single A4 page outlining an expression of interest. It should tell us a little about you as the applicant, your work and how you believe this opportunity will benefit you. (Max 500 words)
- An artist statement (max 350 words)
- 6 images of documentation of artwork and / or video links
- Up to date CV
