Throughout autumn and winter, Golden Thread Gallery will continue to bring the joy of visual art to older people, thanks to an #ArtsAndOlderPeople funding award from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Our new programme Bon Voyage will explore colourful summer holiday memories, holiday songs and the (almost) lost art of the postcard, led by artist Lesley Cherry from Flax Studios and musician Paul Kane, founder of the Over the Hill Music Collective, and musician Chip Bailey.

From day trips to Bangor, family jaunts to Barry’s Amusements, sandcastles on Donegal beaches and bus runs to Newcastle, we’ll reminisce about how summer holidays and day trips round our own wee country were – and still are – some of the highlights of our lives.

The programme of free art and music workshops will have a grand finale with an exhibition and showcase cabaret at the Oh Yeah Music Centre in December!

Watch out for full details and dates of the free workshops, coming soon.
