Make sure to catch Paul Moore’s exhibition, Fionnghlas when the gallery reopens on May 25th! The exhibition was delayed by lockdown, so you have just a short time to see it in the Project Space.

In 2019 Paul Moore received the ACNI Artist Career Enhancement Scheme award to work with Golden Thread Gallery culminating in an exhibition in the Project Space in 2021. Over the course of 2020, when the routine of our daily lives changed so dramatically, Moore began to develop work which is informed by Virtual Reality technology and also the 2020 phenomenon of endurance exercise. Moore is particularly intrigued by the body and landscape, nature and machine, and internal and external experience.

The exhibition documents Paul Moore completing a cold water swim, an endurance exercise which became his escape during lockdown in 2020. Cold water swimming has now become part of Paul’s weekly routine. If you head down to Helen’s Bay beach next Saturday morning 22nd at 11am, you’re likely to see him there swimming to and from the buoy which features in his exhibition. Why not try it out yourself and go for a dip!

If you decide to give it a go, please share your cold water swimming experience with us. Take a picture and make sure to tag the gallery in your story or post so we can share it with the tag #gtgwildswim

We’ll be sharing the #gtgwildswim live on our Instagram next weekend, alongside a VR film on YouTube of sea-swimming captured by Paul, so even if you’re at home you can take part in the experience! Follow us on Instagram for updates.
