This month Arts & Business NI Creative Internship Programme placed four recent graduates on paid internships as trainee fundraisers in local arts organisations. Arts & Business NI recognised a crucial need to equip graduates from arts related courses with relevant work experience; transferrable skills and paid employment. The Creative Internship Programme simultaneously provides the arts organisations with a resource they might not otherwise been able to afford.

During the 10 month internship the graduates will work on fundraising projects and receive structured support from the participating arts organisations. They will also be mentored by a business adviser chosen to meet their professional needs.

“Fundraising and income generation is particularly critical for our sector and the Creative Internships Programme will address the lack of skilled cultural fundraisers in Northern Ireland. We wish all the interns every success with their training and work experience.” Mary Nagele, Chief Executive, Arts & Business NI

Nick Livingston, Director of Strategic Development, at the Arts Council, commented, “The Arts Council is delighted to support the Creative Internships Programme. We are committed to helping shape the arts sector, which significantly contributes to the economy, through the development of a future skilled workforce. It is vital that we create opportunities for our young people to access valuable, meaningful work experience within the creative sector in order to sustain the skills we need now and in the future. I wish the new recruits every success.”
