DRAW IN 3D – BLUE SWIMMING POOL!

A brand new Golden Thread Gallery online workshop for kids!

Dive in and create you own swimming pool art! Katharine has put together this fab tutorial to show you how to draw using perspective and foreshortening to make your pool look 3D.

Perspective in Art

Perspective usually means a way of drawing or painting to give the illusion of depth, distance and shape. In other words, a way to make a picture of a thing which exists in the world in three dimensions look real in an image of it, which exists in two dimensions.

Have you ever noticed that things that are far away look smaller and things that are close to us look bigger? Or that lines that go off into the distance – such as a road or a fence – seem to get narrower and closer together the further away they are?

As always, we hope you can use materials you already have at home and with your imagination and creativity make something new from something that might otherwise have been thrown away. One of the very best ways we can look after our environment is to reduce waste and use less plastic. We can all help our planet!
