Walking In Circles
A collaborative project with Flax Art Studios International residency program. Featuring artist: Regina Pemsl
Golden Thread Gallery proudly present ‘Walking Circles’, an exhibition in collaboration with Flax Arts Studio. The exhibition features Regina Pemsl an established visual artist based in Nurnberg Germany. This exhibition is a collaborative project between the Golden Thread Gallery and Flax Arts Studio’s International Residency Programme.
Pemsl has exhibited widely internationally including ‘Making yourself at home’ a major exhibition at the Bemis Foundation, Omaha. Since 1994 Pemsl has been working with site-specific installations. Pemsl is interest in the phenomena of remembrance, which opens up the linear perceptions of time to a possible simultaneousness of the past, present and future. Pemsl’s works are developed in situ.
For the Golden Thread Gallery Regina Pemsl has developed 2 site-specific installations. One of which is a three dimensional drawing with stretched threads which depend upon the structure of the space. The thread layers store the rhythms and time of the working process, acting like a kind of material memory.
The second work is concerned with text as a connection with time and space. Cut from Dante’s ‘ Divine Comedy’ the text streams around the walls of the changing space of the gallery. So the reader covers a part of the way, like protagonists n the text.
