The FM Radio Swarm
A project by Paddy Bloomer for Radio Relay
Paddy Bloomer has built a Swarm of Speaker Benches with various groups around the North of Ireland. These unique sound machines will be reunited with the people who built them at showcase events at Divis Mountain and Giant’s Ring. The benches are loud and portable and combine the austere functionality of an Amish pew with the party-potential of a ghetto-blaster. The benches are linked together through an FM swarm creating a scalable pa system while turning the normally solitary activity of radio listening into a sociable event. Bring your own Battery Operated FM Radio and patch in to an unforgettable sonic experience.
About the artist:
Paddy Bloomer is an artist inventor explorer and plumber based in Belfast. Paddy is interested in finding and exploiting unusual power sources, waste disposal, health and safety legislation and subverting public infrastructure. He often collaborates with other artists and groups to make work and to orchestrate events throughout Europe.
