An exhibition of works by Andrew Hardwick
Elemental Dynamics is an exhibition of large scale works, heavily layered with tar, wax as well as paint. Hardwick’s work looks at the transient nature of landscape, suffused with geological and archeological references. Hardwick has a fascination with the insignificant features of the landscape, especially the intermediate zone between land, mud and water. In the works often the rating is unclear and shifts from topographical landscape to minimal flatness.
Hardwick’s works are powerful, quite disturbing but with a dark luminosity within them emanating a sacredness of place, gained by raw experience of the land.
