Flax Art Studios Residency Program Exhibition.
Flax Art Studios is an artist run organization founded in 1989 by a group of artists who were in need of a studio facility that could accomodate the production of large-scale sculptures and installations. At the time there was no affordable studio space in Belfast suitable for the production of this kind of work. Flax Art has grown and developed as a resource with the primary aim of facilitating contemporary art practice through a variety of practical and cultura means. This progression has led to initiatives such as the International Residency and the Graduate Student Residency. The latter has commenced in 1998 and provided a recent graduate with a free studio for one year. The graduate benefits from working in a supportive environment with experienced artists.
