a free coach from Dublin

To coincide with the launch of David Godbold’s new solo exhibition ‘Nightfall – amplissum terrarium tractum’ that includes a major new wall drawing, The Golden Thread Gallery is delighted to announce that it has arranged for a free coach from Dublin.

Please email bookings@gtgallery.co.uk to book a seat on the coach. Seats will be allocated on a first come first serve basis, limited to 50 seats.

The coach will depart from close to Temple Bar Gallery, Dublin at 11.00am and return from The Golden Thread Gallery at 4.00pm (expected journey time approx. 2 hours).

Temple Bar Gallery Studios artist Vanessa Donoso Lopez’s exhibition ‘Quotidian Tensions between the Domestic and the Unexpected’ will also be open to view in the project space.

There should be time for visitors to also make their way over to see one or more of the many great exhibitions on in Belfast that day, such as: the new Gilbert & George exhibition ‘The Scapegoating of Pictures’ at the MAC or ‘Stop. Stop. Stop’ featuring Colin Darke, Peter Richards and Peter Spiers at Platform Arts and also Belfast Exposed’s, ‘A New Refutation of the Viking 4 Space Mission’ by Peter Mitchell. The Golden Thread Gallery will be hosting a Christmas Market to coincide with Late Night Art in December! We will have a number of stalls selling all manner of artisanal crafts and creations suitable for gifts for the whole family. Join us for a festive evening which will include a drinks reception, bucks fizz, festive treats for the kids and a great atmosphere! Stall holders will be announced soon and we will be treating you to glimpses of the treats available to purchase on the run up to the night!

Christmas Craft Workshop for the Kids!

We will be hosting a festive crafty session in the gallery to bring the kids to, who will then bring home all kinds of fun decorations they have made themselves. We will be making lots of snowmen, santa beards and tree decorations during this workshop and will be getting very glittery in the process! Children will be guided through the activities by our staff and will be free to take home their creations.

Halloween Costume Clinic – Make your own Costume!

Join us in the gallery on Halloween and make your own costume in preparation for Trick or Treating!
Costumes will be simple and ready to wear for the rest of the evening and free face painting is available to finish off your spooktacular looks! All children can create and bring home one costume each.

Culture Night – Making Rice Crispy Mountains and Face Painting!

Join us this year on the infamous Culture Night and get your hands deliciously dirty crafting your own mountainous masterpiece. Everyone is welcome to join us at the start of the evening as you fuel up to tour the cities events by creating your own rice crispy bun mountain ranges, decorating them and most importantly, eating them! Bring the whole family and get stuck in creating a whole range, decorating marshmallow tree’s and tucking in to your handmade sweet treats. We will also have free face painting and a glitter station from 5-6pm to add even more excitement to your night!

There is car parking right round the corner for added convenience and tea/cofffee and juice will be available for added refreshment.

Artist Talk – Iain Griffin

Join us for Iain Griffin’s lunchtime Artist Talk on Friday 15th from 1.00 – 1.30pm. The talk promises to offer insight into his solo exhibition ‘The Really Wild Show’ and will allow the audience to learn more about his practice.

Iain Griffin (b. Harrogate 1989) is a visual artist currently based in Belfast, N. Ireland. He graduated with First Class Honours in Sculpture from the National College of Art and Design Dublin in 2011. Iain has exhibited nationally and internationally in exhibitions including: N.O.W.H.E.R.E, Interview Room 11, Edinburgh (2016); In Flux, Brunswick Street Gallery, Melbourne (2016); and to Use as Capital, One Night Only, Oslo, Norway (2014). Sold Out was recently shortlisted for the 2016 edition of the EVA International Biennial, Limerick.

The talk will begin at 1.00 pm and last for approximately 30 minutes, followed by a short question and answer session for all who attend. Admission is free and complimentary tea / coffee will be available. No booking necessary, all welcome!
