Interface

Interface
An exhibition of works by Una Walker and Matthew Walmsley

In Northern Ireland the term interface principally refers to a fractured place, such as the location of the Golden Thread Gallery in North Belfast. However this exhibition employs the term interface as the point where either come together or are juxtaposed.

Una Walker has created a new video installation that explores rural and urban postindustrial landscapes. The two locations featured in the work are a deserted village in County Monaghan and the Crumlin Road in Belfast. The two-video projections present an insight into the aftermath of the linen industry. She is an established artist living and working in Northern Ireland who has exhibited extensively both locally and internationally, solo exhibitions include: Temple Bar Galleries, Dublin; Crawford Gallery, Cork; Galerie CAOC, Berlin and the AIR Gallery, London.

Matthew Waimsley’s new installation continues his fascination with temporary architecture and makeshift forms of accommodation; ranging from children’s dens, allotment sheds to holiday caravans. His works juxtaposes different scenarios to create unexpected environments that actively encourage the visitor to physically participate in a process of discovery. he is an artist based in London who has exhibited both nationally and internationally, solo exhibitions include: Aroma Gallery, Berlin; Stuff Gallery, London; Phoebe Street Project, Toronto and the Context Gallery, Derry.

Supported by The Flax Trust,  Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Flax Art Studios.
